Architectural AI – A Human-Machine Collaborative Design System
The aim of this PhD is the development and application of an AI-based human-machine collaborative design system to enhance the architect’s creativity during the development of design ideas.
This research project draws inspiration from the experiments on AI and CAD research conducted in the ’90s which were soon abandoned in favour of optimisation techniques. The hypothesis is that new AI techniques, such as Generative Models, have to potential to overcome some of the limitations of early AI-based CAD systems, and are able to extend their scope of application beyond problem solving.
